Quick Ways to Solve Common Amazon Echo Problems

The Amazon Echo speaker has done an impressive job in the past month, by using voice control to do a lot of things in our daily life. Such as changing the color of the smart light bulb, raising or lowering the temperature, and even locking the front door if it equips with a smart lock.

However, no matter how superior the technology of Amazon Echo products is, it is not completely perfect. Therefore, let’s take a look at the common problems we may encounter when using Echo products, and how should we resolve them.

1. Alexa doesn’t understand me

It will very depressed when Alexa responds to you that “I’m sorry, I don’t understand the question.” In fact, you don’t want to hear this phrase because it may be common in your daily. However, no matter how hard you try to communicate with Alexa, sometimes it just can’t understand what you mean. If you find that it happens more than usual, try calibrating your voice with a voice training tool.

Please follow the instructions below:

  • Start with a voice training tool.
  • Go to Settings > Voice Training in the Alexa app. You will be asked to speak 25 pre-selected phrases to help Alexa learn your lexicon. Besides, you need to say it loudly. This allows Alexa to better recognize your voice and intonation.
  • Go to the app’s Settings and click on History. Then you can check exactly what Alexa recorded all your requests and identify common missed words and express them more clearly.

2. Reducing unwanted activations

Sometimes, Alexa can be triggered by the television, advisement or even radio. To make matters worse, if your Echo is near from TV and you watch any YouTube videos, it may activate the monitoring feature frequently. In order to avoid the situation, you can try the following ways to reduce unwanted activations.

Please follow the instructions below:

  • Go to Settings > Your echo > Change wake words.
  • You can always stop Alexa from eavesdropping on your conversations and TV shows by clicking the microphone button at the top of Echo.

3. The Wi-Fi connection is inconsistent or non-existent

At the bottom of the device, you will find the power LED that can also be used as a Wi-Fi connection indicator. If it is white, that represents connected the internet, but if it is orange, there is no internet access. Therefore, if you’re experiencing an intermittent connection to Amazon Echo or a Wi-Fi connection that doesn’t exist, there is the approach that you can try.

Please follow the instructions below:

  • Restart the router and close Echo then reopen it.
  • If it still does not solve the problem, you can also reduce congestion on your Wi-Fi network by removing unused devices from the network.

4. Alexa won’t connect to my Bluetooth devices

When you are experiencing Bluetooth connectivity issues, the best way to do is to un-pair and re-pair the device. In addition, if you have trouble pairing your device, first make sure that Dot is compatible with your wireless device. The Echo only supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP SNK) and Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), so if your device is not compatible with these configurations, it will not synchronize.

Please follow the instructions below:

  • Open the Alexa app and hit Settings.
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Clear all paired devices.
